How to Write a Scholarship Essay That Gets Remembered

Scholarship essays are where good applications become great. It’s your chance to make a real connection — to show the committee who you are beyond the GPA.
Start strong. Your first sentence should grab attention, not repeat your résumé.
Example: Instead of “I’ve always wanted to be a nurse,” try “The first time I held a stethoscope, I realized compassion could be a career.”
Then, make sure your essay answers two questions:
Why you?
Why this scholarship?
Use vivid details, write from the heart, and always end with impact — what you’ll do with the opportunity you’re given.
